Bryan Avinger: Just curious. I am considering becoming vegan. I'm just starting to cut out foods. I cannot do it all at once but I think it's great for the environment and our health.
Toya Braskett: Photosynthesis
Chastity Doderer: 1
Monica Voltin: unfortunately, yes.
Lia Argall: Flexetarian Vegan: YOU MONSTER! there's plenty of other ways to test products that don't have to do with hurting animals. it makes no sense anyways, other animals get different reactions.
Dalia Causby: A true vegetarian doesnt eat meat... that includes fish, turkey, chickenvegetarian means- no meat!dairy, beans, veggies, fruit, soy products, breaads.... they pretty much eat everything mines meat produces and produces with meat flavoring in it.
Jeremy Donohue: Yes. http://www.caringconsumer.com/resources_companies....I use these lists. Usually, you have to look up the distribution company and then look for that.
Marcellus Yoshimori: Eat less carbs and eat! more beans and nuts instead
Floyd Labuda: well vegetarians kinda cheat. some eat fish and some don't and some eat animal derived ingrediants and dairy and some don't. if you want to be vegan than it is strictly no animal what so ever. some ingrediants are derived from animals an written like a big long word u can't pronounce. it's hard to find vegan food. and their is mock food like fake chicken and fake beef that tastes real. nothing wrong with that.
Wally Gower: There's only one thing they don't eat! ..... MEAT!!!! That includes turkey, chicken, steak, w/e else has meat on it! You can eat eggs they are NOT meat! Sorry if I come off to blunt but it's not that hard to understand! Hope I helpedGiggles
Season Confalone: fyi- there is no way you can change a vegans beliefs so not going vegan isnt an option for me. its like a religion. thanks
Brenton Cornwall: ok, let me try to simplify it.vegetarians, by definition, do not eat animal flesh. (no meat f! rom any animal: cow, chicken, pig, fish, etc.)some people only! eat fish and still want to call themselves vegetarians, so they've made a new word: pesco-vegetarians. most vegetarians think that's hypocritical.even worse are those who eat chicken and still think they are vegetarians.and strict vegetarians are called vegans. vegans don't eat or use any animal products. meat, eggs, dairy, leather, gelatin, or any of the animal byproducts found in makeup, etc. many also try to avoid products that were tested on animals. it's a lot of work. some vegans still eat honey, others don't....Show more
Rachal Osaki: Yes, yes, and no. No chocolate....because there's milk in it. A vegan doesn't eat animal or animal by-products(eggs,cheese,milk). You should definitely study up on it before you start! Have fun:) Learn to cook for yourself.
Pam Rampadarat: It's easy to see why you're overweight- I counted SIX snacks. But that's not the real problem- the problem is that whether it's wheat, potatoes, fruit, or actual sugar, you eat pract! ically nothing but starch (unless we count the butter and peanut butter, which are 100 calories a TABLESPOON)- I'd be shocked if you weren't pre-diabetic.toast = sugar x 2applesauce = sugarcrackers = sugarpringles = sugarsandwich = sugar x 3 (bread + jelly)pretzels = sugarfruit roll up = sugarpringles = sugarcookies = sugarTV Dinner = ????The majority of your diet should be non-starchy vegetables, followed by healthy fats from nuts and seeds, and one or two servings of fruit.Contrary to the other answers, replacing your sugary processed snacks with lots of sugary fruit is not the answer. Unless you're a major athlete, you won't be burning nearly that amount of carbohydrate, which means (after the glucose spike) the calories will immediately be stored as fat. Also, as a Korean, lemme tell ya that while the people in asian countries might eat rice "three times a day", it is a very small amount, with the majority of each meal being seasonal vegetables, and what's more, most pe! ople are poor and work physically 14+ hours a day. What you need is a t! otal overhaul of your diet. And please, get tested for diabetes. Glucose spikes are WHAT CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN- you should avoid them as much as possible....Show more
Javier Holsonback: Well, I am cathloic, and on lent, we dont consider fish as meat either. But i think they just eat dairy, since they didnt "kill" the animal, or fruits and vegetables. There are also people like 1/2 vegetarians who eat a LITTLE meat, but mostly other products, but then again, that isnt really "VEGETARAIN" is it? i could never be one! =]
Maurice Breuning: "Can" would be an incorrect word here, as we all can do whatever we want; we just choose to do certain things and not do certain things. Most beers are vegan. Refer to the list above. Most pasta is vegan (check for eggs). And chocolate is vegan. It's funny that people say chocolate has cow milk in it. Chocolate comes from cocao beans, a plant. If someone chooses to add cow milk to it, that does not make chocolate itself non-vegan. ! Look for Equal Exchange fair-trade organic dark chocolate with almonds - it's great!...Show more

Rosalyn Olivera: It's great that you are thinking about your health and that you drink enough water! What you need to do in reduce or eliminate the amou! nt of processed food you are eating. Just because food in vegan does n! ot mean that it is good for you. By what you wrote, it looks like you are missing any fresh fruits and vegetables from your diet. You are missing a lot of nutrients also; that is a major flaw. Because you are not eating a nutritionally sound diet, you probably feel hungry more often since you are missing having enough protein and fiber. I would suggest using a food tracker like the Supertracker on MyPlate.gov to see what specific nutrients you are lacking. Also start eating so that HALF of your plate at EACH meal fresh fruits and vegetables. I'm not sure why you are a vegan, but if you are not ethically/morally opposed to it, you may want to consider adding eggs, hard cheese, and non fat yogurt/ skim milk to your diet. You seem to be lacking in vit. D, B12, calcium, and protein; these foods will help with that. Switch to eating whole grains. Easy switches will make a big difference. ie) sourdough bread to whole grain, peanut butter crackers to a Wasa cracker with natural pe! anut butter spread onPlease consider taking a multi-vitamin if you do not already. This will help with any nutrient deficiencies. I know that eliminating processed foods may seem hard, but you'll get used to it. I like to make a big batch of something when I have free time and then freeze it in individual servings. Two great sites for vegan recipes are Post Punk Kitchen http://www.theppk.com/recipes/and Christina Cooks http://www.christinacooks.com/I'm also a big fan of making "green smoothies." Basically you put things like kale, spinach, or chard in the blender with some fresh fruit, some frozen fruit and a little water. For an added nutrient and protein kick you can throw in some chia, hemp, or flax seeds. If the prices of these things scare you, check out a health food store, you can usually buy them in bulk and save a ton of money! Also, think of all the money you will save if only eat processed food as a treat. Here is a video I made about vegetarian diets, it may hel! p you out (: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DASh2_hUAzY
Marvel Mc! aulay: Unfortunatly yes they do. Lysol is one of the many cleaning products that are tested on animals. Also anything to do with Proctor & Gamble tests on animals. Finally avoid pastas colored by squid ink.Chocolate- chocolate itself is vegan, but you will often see milk added to it in products. You can find vegan candy bars, and for baking most stores have dairy-free chocolate chips. Cocoa powder should be fine....Show more
Sheldon Lally: There are different kinds of vegetarians. Fruitarians are the ! strictest and will not eat anything if it kills the plant so they eat mostly fruit. Vegans do not eat any animal products. I am a lacto-ovo-vegetarian. I eat eggs and dairy products. This is the most lenient vegetarian diet. Some people eat meat but they do not eat red meat. This diet has a name too (I canât remember what it is) but it is not considered vegetarian.
Spencer Heidtbrink: I, myself am a vegatarian and i strictly do not eat meat. Vegatarians do eat fish, eggs, cheese, milk, etc. VEGANS do not eat anything with even grease from an animal. Which means no milk, potato chips, cheese, yogurt, etc. Vegatarians eat those things. So a vegatarian JUST DOESN'T eat animal flesh or meat. Hope i could answer your question!
Soraya Coodey: If you're serious, you need to cut out like all of the junk food e.g. peanut butter crackers, pringles, pretzels, cookies. You will never lose weight on that diet.Instead eat brown rice and other wholegrains, nuts, vegetabl! es, seeds, fruit.
William Vickerman: Apparently not meat!!!!
Charissa Bichsel: Yes vegans can drink beer. But a lot of beers/wines/ liquors are processed with/ or contain animal ingredients. For example, sometimes they use Isinglass (made from a fish) as a clearing agent in the beer or wine, or bone char to filter the liquor... other times the beer contains actual animal ingredients. I recently asked a question about beer (I found some vegan beer lists, but no good ones that included smaller brewery beers that I like, Yards/ Yuengling/ Lionshead/ Stegmeier.) Some one gave me this link, and it seemed like the best...http://www.veganporn.com/booze.pl**If you don't see the beer on there that you want, you could always try to contact the company, the beer breweries are usually more cooperative than certain food companies... I've never had a problem with them...You'll have to get into the habit of reading the ingredient labels on foods... A lot of pastas are vegan, but some contain eggs, just check the ingredients (oh and be on the look! out for hidden animal ingredients) Here is a list of animal ingredients...http://www.peta.com/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=72(and just a hint, if you are not sure about a certain ingredient, just be safe and stay away from it...like "natural flavors")***You could call/e mail the company and ask them about it though, they may give you a hard time... just tell them that you are allergic to all meats/ dairy/ eggs/ anything else you can think of that is not vegan... they might be more cooperative that way...I'm not sure though... I just always lie to them and tell them that I have severe food allergies...they should have to tell you whether the "natural flavor" contains any of that stuff. And chocolate usually has some kind of dairy in it... you could just buy vegan chocolate online... If that is what you want to do.I've heard that this online store has good chocolate:http://www.veganstore.com/-or- you could try this onehttp://store.foodfightgrocery.com/index.html (****Thank you ! Just breaking it down like this lets you see how much nutritionally deficient things you eat every day.My suggestions-add protein and more fruit at breakfast. PB is great, but get some small containers and eat natural nut butters (almond and cashew are really awesome too) with crudites instead of more processed carbs-clery, carrtos, even cauliflower. Skip the Pringles altogether-if you crave potato chips, at least get the real deal. Read how Pringles are made and you wo! n't want them anymore.More nut butter and bread at lunch! Mix it up! have meal salads, soup, pasta salad, leftovers from the healthy dinners you will begin to prepare (right?), veggie subs, bean burrito with salsa.Fruit, whole wheat crackers, granola-much better snacks for afternoon. And dinner-even vegan dinners are often not very healthy and man! I have better things to spend my money on. Good meals are not as hard to cook as you think. Pasta with sauteed veggie sauce and pine nuts, Stir fry with tofu or edemame. Bean burritos or tacos. Saute a portobella mushroom cap in a skillet with some soy sauce or other seasoning you like and EVOO, make a mushroom burger. Fake meats are convenient but not healthy as a steady diet. Fresh fruit, sorbet-sweet but with some nutrients. and substitute popcorn for the pretzels or better yet-don't snack at night. Dorris Homola: Stay off the Chips, crackers and breads. Buy yourself a juicer and if you can afford it a blendtec or a Vita mix.Juice in the morning fruit and gingerJuice at night or for dinner time a green drink.Stay away from mocha's or frapps. Eat plenty of greens, nuts (soaked and sprouted), Seed (soaked and sprouted), legumes (most cooked)The best thing to do is again stay away from the chips and crackers and breads if they are making you stumble. If you can ! eat them sparingly then that is OK as long as the things you are eating! are Organic. Stay away from anything that is not organic. GMO (Genetically modified foods--Corn (anything with High fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, corn etc...), soy (soy lecithin, beans, milk, tofu), canola oil (french fries, fried veggies, donuts), flax (seeds and oil), sugar (sugar beets), Hawaiian papaya. Eat plenty of fruits (good combination of several in the morning), Juice the fruits also with the eating of the fruits (The juicing gives you the high concentration of vitamins and minerals as well as the good enzymes you need to be healthy as well as cutting up the fruit to eat along with the juice. You need the fiber for good cleansing in the bowels.) The other key is to eat smaller portions but more times throughout the day. If you buy a bag of chips (organic) then just eat a handful with a meal and then put the bag away. If you have a hard time just eating a few then don't buy them. Eat some fruit instead or small carrots. In the evening with your organi! c dinner you can juice green veggies with some apples and carrots. Minh Lefrancois: This question seems to be a bit too in-depth, redundant, and silly. Nonetheless, it would seem, by the name, that a vegetarian would eat primarily vegetables.
