Rufus Plough: I say vegan. Why? Adult mammals have no need for mother's milk (or the milk of any other animal -- that's just weird) once they are old enough to be able to chew and properly digest other foods. Milk is for growing babies/children. I'm sure that many children were still supplementing their diet with mother's milk up to the ages of 8 or older if food was scarce in the region. But if nutritious food is not scarce, then breastfeeding until around 3 years old should be the norm (that doesn't mean giving 3 year olds difficult to digest or highly processed adult food though).Let's not forget, that the largest population of humans on the planet is in China. And in China they do not consume dairy. If you stopped a person on the street and asked them they'd say, "Milk is for babies and old people". And I'm not talking millions of people, I'm talking about billions of people, OK? The centre of the human population is not the USA, it is China. Most other places ! in Asia do not consume dairy either. Why? Because they are not ignorant of the fact that humans are mammals, and mammals beyond breast feeding age have no need for milk. In fact, if you were to stop consuming dairy products slowly (perhaps it would take a year or two) you'd become become Lactose Intolerant. You are supposed to be lactose intolerant as a full grown mammal because there is no need to consume dairy any longer. Simple fact of mammal life. Once you stop consuming dairy, the production of the enzyme that helps break it down ceases, and that's it, the end.Anyway, something to think about....Show more
Herma Ellebrecht: It depends on who you are. I know vegans and vegetarians who are perfectly healthy. However, a friend of mine and I have both tried being vegetarian but became sick. We tried everything but only felt better when we went back to eating meat.
Torri Tippey: You can be vegan and be perfectly healthy, in fact, you might even be health! ier. I think vegan is the right way to go. There was a similar! question to this earlier and here's how I answered. I'm vegan and I am much healthier than I was when I was an omnivore. I've only been vegan for 6 months, and during this time I haven't gotten one cold when before when I was an omnivore, I was always sick.As for people saying vegans don't get enough protein. Honestly...where have you see a vegan who was suffering from a lack of protein who actually ate food?? As for vitamins that some say can only be found in meat such as riboflavin, I must inform you all that my cereal has 25% of the daily needs of riboflavin and my my soy milk has 30% all in one serving. I think I might even be getting too much protein since soy is packed full of it. Everyone who thinks vegans don't get their daily requirments of needed nutrients to live should really do some research before blabbering on about something they know nothing about.Edit:I'd just like to add that no vegan or vegetarian should take vitamin supplements unless they have an actu! al medical condition. You can get all you need through food and you don't have to eat a mass amount to get what you need.Oh, and I find it very surprising that someone knows vegans who eat candy like crazy because from what I've found, there's hardly any vegan candy out there. And the vegan junk food that is out there is not cheap enough to eat like crazy....Show more
Chet Nozick: It is healthier to be a vegetarian because your body needs protein, and being a vegetarian, you get more of it. You should try to stay vegetarian.
Sabra Roers: Vegan is the way to go. People say that you cant get enough protein but thats not true. You can get more than enough protein by eating healthy balanced meals that are varied. Snacks also to help you meet the nutrients that you lack when you eat the meals. And you can take mutli vitamins like i do so you can make sure that you have enough vitamins. Cutting out dairy and cheese has made me feel so much better. I have more energy a! nd i dont get that sluggy feeling like in the afternoon. My skin is glo! wing. i dont get sick like i used to. The last time i was sick was exactly 6 months ago (the same day that i decided to go vegan)....Show more
Raye Tredennick: Actually, a vegan or vegetarian who monitors their diet is more healthy than omnivores. If you're a Christian, you would understand the principle of people not eating meat in the beginning. In the Garden of Eden, man did not eat meat. It wasn't until the flood waters from the Great Flood receded that God allowed man to eat meat, and also for animals to eat each other. Ever wonder why the animals didn't eat each other on the ark? They were all herbivores. After the flood, God instituted the practice of eating meat for man and for animals as a representation of the beastly nature of man and sin. This doesn't mean that it's sinful to eat meat, because God does allow it, but you also shouldn't criticize those who decide not to eat meat....Show more
Melvina Bieri: i'm a veggeterian and the only dairy i eat is ! cheese and ice cream.
Mack Ukich: I think vegetarian is best. I do not have any logical arguments to support my opinion. I am myself an omnivore, but I consume plenty of fruits and vegetables, and I think it has helped me stay healthy. I am 65 plus and still going strong, look about 10 years younger than my age.Moderate quantities of meat should be consumed with vegetables and fruits and lots and lots of yogurt.Avoid too much meat, sugar, and fats. Best wishes.
Brittney Inabnit: Vegans are not healthy. Every vegan I know eats candy like crazy. Obviously if you do it properly, it's not as bad. But most vegans don't get the proper protein and nutrition that they need to be healthy.
Faustino Mellerson: I'm going with answer number 5 your body needs all the different nutrients to keep all the organs running well. There are pills that only have calcium, or ones that only have fish nutrient, or fruit nutrient, or vegetable nutrient (the fruit pills and vege! table pills are called Juice Plus) that we take, and they keep our bodi! es' functioning perfectly.
Kelly Bistodeau: i think no because you will get not enough nutrient..
Ilana Gaster: Actually, no. We humans are designed to be omnivores, meaning we get our nourishment from a blend of food sources. Removing meat and animal products completely from your diet presents a series of nutritional difficulties that must be overcome by either eating mass amounts of foods to compensate or taking regular supplements. We are supposed to eat meat. Really. Just not as much as we (Americans) currently do. A 4oz. portion of fish or chicken every few days will provide all the proteins and vitamins absent in a vegan diet for most active people. That said, you can go vegan and be very healthy. I've seen it done. You just need to really monitor your diet and energy levels. It is also more important than ever to have regular check-ups from your doctor so that he/she can check you for nutritional deficiencies or other diet-related health issues.Go! od luck!-J-...Show more
