Donnell Nocella: Because you can put anyone a a reference sometimes I use a cousin. They want someone to actually call in.
Gabriel Realmuto: With the ability to write copy and digitally sign things a written reference is no longer as strong as one where an interviewer can ask specifically addressed questions. Also, with a verbal reference a good interviewer will be able to possibly identify any apprehension in the person's voice. There are many more reasons I could provide but I hope this helps. Darnell Cutliff: Often, employers will ask for a verbal reference because they are unsatisfied with the written reference. It may be old, it may not address the questions that the employer has about your previous performance, or they may just question the validity of the letter.It is possible that it may also be a corporate policy to have verbal references.
