Is there to many Taxes?

Dexter Gold: We should shift to a FLAT SALES TAX. Boom problem solved. You can't get around paying your fair share AND you can't get around paying it by working under the table. The Govt collects their money and everyone pays the amount based on how much they buy, so it's fair.

Dorethea Beaston: Blue, compared to many other countries, we are not over taxed (take into account that most of the rest of the world's population survives off of less then $10 a day.) yet, we get very little say in what way the taxes are spent. I personally would give much more if I could decide where the money went.AnkPak, in America the only way we get more money is buy getting further in debt, the Federal Reserve (not a part of the government, it's just a central bank) loans money to the government, then the government can only pay the loan back by asking the reserve for more money.Chris, we get plenty in return, just not directly, infrastructure, fire fighters, NASA, police (they are an ! important part of society, like it or not,) FDA, USDA, I can go on for pages.and in general, the income tax is unconstitutional. it is part of the 16th amendment....Show more

Solomon Belback: wouldn't that be, *are* there *too* many taxes?(by the way: i think your question proved the answer.)

Jude Colbenson: The only fair tax is income tax, abolish all the others. They'll never do this because it would mean the rich paying their fair share.

Jodie Capella: Yes,we are way over taxed considering what we get in return.

Voncile Slaubaugh: Of course not, how else would the government waste all of our money.

Rodrigo Pezley: well the question should be how are we in debt with everything so taxed, we shjould have more than enough money

Anibal Scheid: Taxes pay for services the governments provide. Name the services you want to get rid of, and you can talk about reducing taxes. Armed forces? Police? Roads? Water and sewer? Prisons? Pension for ! the elderly, or the disabled? Education? Those are all servi! ces paid for by government. If you took 100 people and asked them which services to eliminate, you would find 100 different answers, so the job of government is to try to balance what the people WANT with what they are willing (and able) to PAY for.Paying less taxes than the government NEEDS to survive is called deficit financing, and means borrowing money, just as you would f you spent more than your pay check each month. Guess, what? That means now we add on interest payments, which requires even MORE taxation. Now, if you really mean too MANY taxes, in other words the actual number of taxes on the books, rather than tax levels, well, there are many arguments for that concept. One really BIG tax would actually make more sense in terms of complexity, but it reduces or removes the ability of the various governments (city, state, federal etc) to tailor their tax intake to alter behavior or link a specific tax with a specific program....Show more
