Lilli Kochel: sterilize the stupid and do some cutting on the baby daddies that have twenty welfare moms with kids in their wake. that would solve the problem.
Monty Sieloff: Because our government sucks.Just like we have the worlds most expensive defense budget yet are invaded by millions of illegals each year and aren't safer than any other country in the world.
Aldo Decurtis: Maybe its our reverse-darwinism policy, survival of the most unintelligent and unmotivated. People who are motivated, work, and are intelligent....can't afford to have children. People who don't work get to afford....everything.Problably the fact...that America breeds.....stupidity because of socialism.
Dorinda Metzer: @Constitution First: Cuba scores #1 and Yemen scores #5 on your list. That link isn't helping your argument.
Bethany Blocker: Many of the countries ahead of us do not have compulsory attendance. that means they don't educate every child, some don't even all! ow certain children the option of attending. Some of those countries also have schools compete for their students so the better the school the brighter the children who go to it. It's like comparing apples to oranges-If we only allowed the smartest or best or whatever into our schools we would test equal or better (IMHO) than most other countries. Also, the tests that are compared aren't always the same tests-we may not take the tests that they are in Taiwan, Finland, Hong Kong, etc. So comparing scores is ridiculous. As to your question about funding. No spending more money doesn't mean increased scores. The problem there appears, to me, to be more one of familial or community priorities. There are many families and/or kids that just don't value an education so they don't succeed as they could. There are also many families that are struggling so bad just to get by that education has to take a back seat to finding a meal or paying the power bill. The solution? To ! many facets to that question for Y!A. Allow schools to compet! e, get families more involved, don't teach to stupid tests, if you're worried just about how we rank in high school tests then only educate the brightest 20-30% of the kids,, etc....Show more
Season Confalone: let's spend less like Mississippi, I wonder where that state would rank internationally? in the top 100?maybe it's not about spending at all? either more or less... maybe there are other factors? like time in school?
Pasquale Pollet: Because many Americans who should not have had children -- have children.Sorry, you can spin it however you like, but when PARENTS are actively involved, the children will learn.
