Tana Dumoulin: Well, generally a junkyard has more than one car, doesn't it? So "pieces of cars" would make more sense to me in that context. Besides, if you were only talking about one car, it would be "pieces of a car".
Hunter Beech: well considering that there are multiple cars in the yard, and parts could be from multiple cars, the carS seems more appropriate
